Find Federal Funding

Funding for research and scholarship, as well as for programmatic, capacity building, and educational initiatives, can be found from the government (federal, state, and local), industry, and foundations, as well as from internal Texas State sources. There are a variety of resources to find funding including the following:

• PIVOT  
  PIVOT is the most comprehensive global database of funding opportunities, which is updated daily. PIVOT sends alerts whenever new funding opportunities are posted that match your saved searches. Based on research profiles, PIVOT sends funding recommendations and helps researchers find collaborators.
• Grants.gov  
  Grants.gov lists all current and historical federal grant opportunities from 26 agencies of the U.S. government, including NIH, NSF, Department of Energy and many others.
• National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP)  
  NORDP’s funding opportunities page includes a comprehensive compilation of research grant mechanisms, types, and programs representing collaborative, cross-disciplinary (multi/inter/transdisciplinary) and team-based funding opportunities.
• Federal Business Opportunities (FBO)  
  FBO includes all federal contracting opportunities (current request for proposals).

Many federal and state agencies have their own email list by which to make announcements about funding opportunities including grants, contracts and cooperative agreements. Because many opportunities are unsolicited, and may not be announced in Grants.gov nor FBO, an agency’s electronic announcements/newsletters are a good way to stay abreast of the comprehensive types of funding each agency has.
